WSSC Water has developed a $1.8 billion Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 budget that will deliver safe, seamless and satisfying services to our 1.9 million customers in Prince George’s and Montgomery counties. Investing in clean-water projects throughout both counties protects public health, create jobs, enhances economic growth, safeguards our environment, and drives equity and environmental justice.
The budget is based on a 9.5 percent average rate increase. A typical customer with a family of three using 48 gallons of water per person daily would see a quarterly increase of $25.60 in their bill, which includes an increase in fees and other charges. Despite this increase, WSSC Water rates remain competitive and continue to compare favorably to many other comparable regional water and sewer utilities. The average residential bill is approximately 1.0 percent of the median household income.
We’ve developed this bill calculator to help you budget and prepare for this rate increase, which takes effect July 1, 2025.
We understand that an increase in your bill can impact your finances. That is why this budget includes nearly $9 million in financial assistance to help protect income-constrained customers, a 14 percent increase over last year.
