WSSC Water has been serving the people of Montgomery and Prince George's Counties for more than 100 years. Now one of the largest water and wastewater utilities in the nation, we are committed to providing you with safe, reliable water - life's most precious resource.
WSSC Water's Mission, Vision & Values
Our service area spans nearly 1,000 square miles in Prince George’s and Montgomery counties, and we serve 1.9 million residents through approximately 475,000 customer accounts. WSSC Water drinking water has always met or exceeded federal standards.
Our History
Established in 1918, WSSC Water now serves almost two million customers in Montgomery County and Prince George's County. Here's a look back at how we started.
Our Governance
WSSC Water is governed by six commissioners, three from Montgomery County and three from Prince George's County, who serve four-year terms. Working with the commissioners is the Corporate Secretary, who keeps WSSC Water's official files and records.
Our Leadership
Led by General Manager/CEO Kishia L. Powell, WSSC Water's leadership team oversees a workforce of more than 1,700 people.
Board of Ethics
WSSC Water's Board of Ethics, which acts independently, ensures that our Commissioners and employees maintain the highest professional and ethical standards while performing their duties.
Financial Information
WSSC Water's operating budget - almost $1.48 billion for fiscal 2023 - is only part of our financial picture. The Capital Improvements Program, payments on bonds and debt obligations, employee retirement plans and more are also key areas of focus.
