Project Purpose & Status
WSSC Water installed 3.66 miles of new water main, ranging from 8-inch – 30-inch diameter, from South Osborne Road and Rt 301/Crain Hwy to South Osborne and Marlboro Pike in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. The project was completed in September 2025.
- Project included replacing aging water mains and service connections. These infrastructure upgrades improve reliability, especially the 30-inch transmission main which has experienced multiple breaks in the past.
- The new pipeline will enable WSSC Water’s Potomac Filtration Plant to enhance water flow and meet the drinking water needs of southern Prince George’s County customers while improving infrastructure reliability and resiliency.
Project milestones include:
- Pipe installation – August 2025
- Roadway paving – October 2025
- Restoration and tree planting – September 2025
