Water Service Line Inventory

• We have confirmed that 97.3% of our service line inventory does not contain lead. This was through extensive records research, surveys provided by building occupants and field verifications by WSSC Water technicians. 
• There are 11,512 remaining service lines where either side or both sides are unknown. 
• Through field verifications, we have not found a single lead line as of April 30, 2025. 
• The remaining class, Galvanized Requiring Replacement (GRR), is composed of two types:
  1. Those that have been field verified as GRR 
  2. From the original inventory, those service lines that are suspected GRR from records, and have not yet been verified through survey or field inspection

Key Inventory Updates

• The decrease in unknown, GRR and lead service lines resulted from the customer survey, field verification or from records research. 
• The increase in non-lead service lines comes from reclassifying lead, GRR or unknown based on the same criteria.
