General Counsel

The General Counsel is WSSC Water's chief legal officer and head of the General Counsel’s Office.

The principal responsibilities of the General Counsel's Office include:

• Defending WSSC Water against lawsuits and claims, and prosecuting WSSC Water's claims against others
• Representing WSSC Water before regulatory agencies such as the Maryland Department of the Environment, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and others
• Preparing legal opinions, analysis and research; reviewing and revising contracts
• Investigating claims filed by customers and determining liability and damages, and negotiating settlements when appropriate
